The Department Artificial Intelligence and Automation is newly established on the foundation of its predecessor, the Department of Automation. It is now one of the fastest-growing institution in the school. This department has always been rooted in the industry, serving the economic development of the western region. It closely aligns with national strategic needs such as 'New Urbanization,' 'Industrialized Construction,' 'Smart Manufacturing,' and 'Internet Plus.' Focusing on the cutting-edge developments in the field of control science and the critical technologies and applications in architecture, construction, and modern urban control. We emphasize specialized research areas including industrial process intelligent perception and autonomous control, recognition and intelligent systems for complex urban scenarios, and human living environment systems engineering.

Years of effort has led to the formation of a comprehensive advantage in the discipline of automation and artificial intelligence and development of distinct industry characteristics. We have established a relatively complete 'undergraduate and master's' talent training system in the field of building intelligence. This system has nurtured a significant number of high-level professional and technical talents in the field of control science and engineering who are involved in scientific research, technological development, and technological applications. It provides theoretical, technological, and talent support for improving the intelligence level of the construction and construction industry and the living environment in the western region and even the whole country.

Oriented toward the industry, we emphasize interdisciplinary approaches and the role of interdisciplinary integration in student skill development. We have developed distinctive specialized directions oriented towards fields such as civil engineering, architecture, and environmental studies. Guided by this policy, in recent years we have achieved a series of accomplishments. With the goal of constructing the 'Double Ten Thousand Project' excellent courses, we aim to create 'gold courses' represented by core courses like 'Microcomputer Principles and Single-Chip Microcontroller Interface Technology' and 'Principles of Automatic Control.' In recent years, we have achieved a series of accomplishments. In 2020, these two courses were approved as top-tier courses in Shaanxi Province. These courses are 'Automatic Control Theory' by Professor Ji Qichun and 'Microcomputer Principles and Single-Chip Microcontroller Interface Technology' by Professor Meng Yuebo. Among them, 'Automatic Control Theory' was recommended for application as a national top-tier undergraduate course. Additionally, in 2022, the Artificial Intelligence program became a member of the National Universities' Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Innovation Alliance, and its social influence has been increasing year by year. In June 2022, Automation major received engineering education program accreditation, obtained recognition as a national top-tier undergraduate program construction site, and was rated as a four-star program by the China Science Evaluation and Research Center and a B-level program by the China Academy of Management Sciences (Wu Shulian). The quality of talent development has been widely recognized by the industry and society."

In recent years, we have intensified the recruitment of high-level young teachers, and adopted a comprehensive approach to training, recruitment, and appointment. Ever since 2020 we have recruited over 20 young members with PHD degrees from renowned domestic and foreign universities. We will always focus on advancing the research and teaching abilities of the faculty, we aim to build a high-quality researching and teaching team that is capable of nurturing students' sustainable development skills.
