1.Joint Research Center for urban Renewal and Intelligent Operation and Maintenance

On the afternoon of June 29th, the School of Information and Control Engineering and Shaanxi Jian Gong Future City Innovation Technology Co., Ltd. held a plaque unveiling ceremony for the “Urban Renewal and Intelligent Operation and Maintenance Joint Research Center” in room 713 of the Engineering Building. Tian Penggang(the General Manager of Shaanxi Jian Gong Technology Co., Ltd.), Duan Zhongxing (the Executive Vice Dean of the International Education College and the head of the Automation Major) and Li Changhua (the head of the Computer Discipline, and representatives of the School of Information and Control Engineering) attended the event.

Tian Penggang congratulated the establishment of the Urban Renewal and Intelligent Operation and Maintenance Joint Research Center, stating that Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology has made positive contributions to the improvement of the industry’s technical capabilities as a long-term friendly partner of the Shaanxi Construction Group. The School of Information and Control Engineering has developed rapidly in the fields of informatization and intelligent research, which is closely related to the development layout of Shaanxi Jian Gong Technology Co., Ltd. The joint research center will focus on supporting the industrial transformation and upgrading, carry out in-depth joint research on key areas and pain points such as urban renewal and intelligent operation and maintenance, and hopes that both parties can have comprehensive and in-depth cooperation in the intelligent transformation of the construction industry, achieving mutual complementarity and common development.

Ma Zongfang, the Dean of the School of Information and Control Engineering, congratulated the establishment of the Urban Renewal and Intelligent Operation and Maintenance Joint Research Center, and expressed his gratitude to Shaanxi Jian Gong Technology Co., Ltd. for their long-term attention and support to the development of the school. He stated that the School of Information and Control Engineering has always focused on the integrated development of industry, academia, research, and application. The joint research center takes Shaanxi Jian Gong Future City Innovation Technology Co., Ltd. as the industrial entity, combines the research talent advantages and innovation resources of the School of Information and Control Engineering, and forms an innovative alliance with deep integration of school-enterprise cooperation. The establishment of the joint research center will continuously promote deep cooperation between the two parties, enhance the research and application capabilities of teachers, enhance the transformation and application of research results in the school, improve the operational capabilities of the industry, and achieve complementary and win-win situations in technology, industry, and operation.

During the event, Ma Zongfang and Tian Penggang signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties, and jointly unveiled the plaque for the Urban Renewal and Intelligent Operation and Maintenance Joint Research Center. After the ceremony, representatives from both parties visited the National Key Laboratory for Green Building.

The establishment of the Urban Renewal and Intelligent Operation and Maintenance Joint Research Center is of great significance to the School of Information and Control Engineering and Shaanxi Jian Gong Future City Innovation Technology Co., Ltd. Both parties will deepen their complementary advantages and resource sharing in their respective fields, focus on serving scientific research at the school, support the training of graduate students, promote the improvement of teachers’ and students’ research capabilities, and support industrial development. They will continue to promote the integration of industry, academia, and research, and open a new chapter of cooperation.

2. Key Laboratory of Intelligent Manufacturing Technology in Construction Manufacturing in Xi’an City

The Key Laboratory of Intelligent Manufacturing Technology in Construction Manufacturing in Xi’an City was approved by the Xi’an Municipal Science and Technology Bureau in December 2022. It relies on the background and advantages of Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology in the construction industry and its characteristic disciplines. It focuses on the urgent needs of industrialization and intelligent development in the construction industry. It focuses on the research of intelligent manufacturing in the field of robotic coordination and cooperation in the construction industry. It focuses on key technologies such as group machine perception and coordination intelligent manufacturing in construction scenarios and customized group machine configuration production systems. It promotes the deep integration and integration of artificial intelligence in the field of construction engineering.

I.Basic Conditions

The laboratory has a research and office space of 1344 square meters, mainly distributed in the Xinkong Building of the Caotang Campus and the 5th floor of the Engineering Training Center. The laboratory has more than 510 sets of research instruments and equipment, with a total value of 13 million yuan, including a number of domestically leading experimental platforms such as group robot flexible intelligent automation system, artificial intelligence and big data experimental platform, deep learning server, intelligent machine vision experimental system, industrial robots, process control training system, elevator simulation training system, programmable controller comprehensive training device (Siemens), industrial control half-physical PLC training equipment, discrete industry intelligent manufacturing comprehensive training system, power electronics technology and motor control experimental device, etc.

In the process of scientific research, technology promotion and talent cultivation for many years, the laboratory has cultivated high-quality talents with solid professional foundation and rich engineering practice ability for disciplines and industries. There are 32 full-time teachers, and the laboratory pays attention to the cultivation of young talents. It has introduced 7 high-level talents and trained 6 young teachers and 129 graduate students in the past three years.

II. Research Direction and Positioning

The construction of the laboratory is aimed at the needs of industrial structure adjustment, technological upgrading, and strategic emerging industries for industrial robots and intelligent equipment in the construction industrialization field in the country and Shaanxi Province. In combination with the development trend of international robot technology, the laboratory focuses on the research of intelligent perception, optimization control, human-computer interaction, system integration, and intelligent software for construction industrialization group machine intelligent manufacturing systems. It researches the integration technology of construction industrialization group machine intelligent manufacturing systems, develops building intelligent production virtual and real twin industrial software, and develops building intelligent perception digital twin robots, etc., exploring the deep integration and integration of artificial intelligence in the field of construction engineering, and providing technical support for robots and intelligent equipment in the construction industrialization field.

The construction of the laboratory is based on the innovative concept of research, practice, and teaching of intelligent robot systems at home and abroad, focusing on solving key technical problems in the fields of intelligent manufacturing and construction industrialization, especially the urgent needs of industrial robots in the field of construction industrialization. It carries out the transfer, transformation, and industrial application of key technologies and systems of industrial robots, and serves the national and local economic development.

III. Scientific Research Capacity and Achievements

Relying on the national key disciplines such as Control Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Technology Information, and Civil Engineering of Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology, the laboratory has built first-class national professional construction sites such as automation, computer science and technology, civil engineering, and building electrical and intelligent. It conducts key theoretical and technological research on building intelligent manufacturing in the field of artificial intelligence cross-discipline. In the past three years, it has completed 2 national key research and development projects, 3 national natural science fund projects, 8 Shaanxi provincial natural science basic research fund projects, 1 national key laboratory open fund project, 12 provincial and ministerial projects, 6 department-level projects, and signed 29 enterprise commissioned projects, with a total funding of over 10 million yuan. The project “Research and Engineering Application of Intelligent Information Feature Processing Technology” was awarded the second prize of the department-level by the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology of Higher Education.

In the past three years, more than 150 papers have been published, including 31 SCI indexed papers, 24 EI indexed papers, and 50 CSCD papers. Nearly 120 patents have been applied for, including 9 Chinese invention patents and 8 utility model patents. More than 80 software copyrights have been granted. More than 20 national and provincial awards have been won in the Chinese Graduate Electronic Design Competition and the Chinese Graduate Robot Innovation Design Competition.

IV. Academic Exchange and Academic Sharing

The research team of the laboratory actively participates in various high-level academic exchange activities at home and abroad to improve the academic influence and competitiveness of the laboratory. In the past three years, it has hosted 5 academic exchange conferences and participated in 14 academic exchanges.

The laboratory has established a “theoretical research, technical service, and open sharing” operating mechanism, and has provided scientific and technological sharing services and talent training more than 10 times in the past three years. The main universities and enterprises for open sharing include Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an Jiaotong University City College, Shangluo College, China Architecture Northwest Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., Xi’an Aerospace Shenzhou Architectural Design Institute Co., Ltd., and Xi’an Creator Robot Co., Ltd. Through open sharing, academic exchanges are promoted, research results are transformed into productivity, and support is provided for social development.
